The Ghost in the Attic series is a great series. My daughter read the first book of this series when she was in the first grade. Then during the summer vacation between 1st and 2nd grade, she read #2, 3, 4, and 5. Storyline is easy to understand, it's a ghost story, but not scary at all.

It is very cute. I have pre-ordered book #6 and /5(50). The Ghost in the Attic is the second book of The Haunted Library series by Dori Hillestad Butler. It has pretty greyscale illustrations and is divided into short chapters.
